Ebony Oaks Farm

Our Story

Both founders of Ebony Oaks Farm were equine enthusiasts from a very young age. Jenevieve Hofsommer grew up with horse posters on her walls and cared for a couple of horses she deeply loved in her family’s small pasture, including the first horse she called her own, Ebony. She worked with Dr. Ann Snetsinger of Medicine Woman Veterinary Clinic for several years as an equine veterinary assistant, and also trained at Don Doran’s Equine Sports Massage School in Ocala, FL. She began competing in dressage at age 13, and went on to learn from several incredible instructors and athletic horses. She has obtained USDF bronze and silver medals and graduated from the USDF L program — but continues her lifelong journey as a student of the discipline of dressage.

Cody Hofsommer grew up with horses on his family’s property, and graduated from the Tuscon School of Horseshoeing in 2003. He eventually began further exploring his interests in metallurgy and blacksmithing, and in 2010, he created Hofsommer Forge. Fun fact: He even appeared on The History Channel on an episode of Forged in Fire! Cody ensures hoof health is a top priority for all horses at Ebony Oaks and regularly performs trimming and shoeing services.

Together, Jenevieve and Cody have created an environment that nurtures healthy mental perspectives and develops equestrian talent in both horse and rider. Each of them are heavily involved in organizations that promote education and awareness in their respective disciplines. They also live, work, and raise their family on the farm, and keep a close eye on all activities, whether in corral, stall, arena or pasture. As Jen says, not one day goes by that horses on her property are not handled.
